PATIENT SPOTLIGHT

Meet Annabelle, lovingly known as Belle

Born at just 27 weeks, Belle faced an incredibly difficult NICU journey. Her family was told multiple times that she might not make it, but from the very beginning, they could see just how feisty she was. Time and again, Belle did the things they were told she wouldn’t be able to do, eventually making it home to the family who loves her so deeply.

Belle may not communicate with words, but those closest to her will tell you she has plenty to say! While she may seem quiet at first, her family knows a different side — feisty, playful, and always ready to give Mom a little trouble. She loves being held, especially when Dad gives her his signature “princess carry,” and she’s even been known to play-fight with Mom and Grandma.

Her days are filled with classes, therapies with Mom, activities with her teacher, and plenty of Disney movies with the family. And although she may give her teacher a hard time, her family has a feeling she secretly enjoys their time together.

For Belle’s family, welcoming nursing into their home wasn’t an easy decision. As a private family caring for a medically fragile child, having someone new enter such a personal space initially brought a lot of anxiety. Over time, however, their nurses became an incredibly important part of their support system, giving the family much-needed respite both mentally and physically.

Their nurses have also been there through times of illness, offering clinical insight, recognizing changes early, and working alongside the family to stay ahead of concerns. That consistent and vigilant care has helped keep Belle out of the ER and ICU whenever possible, while giving her family the reassurance of knowing they don’t have to navigate everything alone.

Over the years, those relationships have grown into something special. Belle’s longest-standing nurse, Ms. Keisha, knows her incredibly well — even noticing changes in her mood and attitude that once only her family would catch. And perhaps the best sign that Ms. Keisha has officially become family? Belle now gives her the same attitude she gives Mom! She’ll even push back during care with a little smirk on her face.

Today, every new experience is worth celebrating. Each family vacation is a milestone — especially when there was once a time when simply taking Belle out of the house was incredibly difficult.

Her family hopes Belle’s story reminds others not to underestimate children like her and to take the time to get to know them for exactly who they are — their personalities, their strengths, their sense of humor, and all the little things that make them uniquely themselves.

We’re so grateful to have Belle, her incredible nurses, and her wonderful family as part of our Atlantic Care community. It’s a privilege to be part of Belle’s journey and to watch the special relationships surrounding her continue to grow. We can’t wait to see what milestones, memories, and adventures come next for her!

“Belle, and kiddos like her, are smarter than we often give them credit for. Be attentive, patient, and kind, and you’ll get to experience how wonderful they truly are.”
— Marisol, Belle's Mom

CAREGIVER HIGHLIGHT

Congrats to our August Caregiver of the Month winners!

We’re excited to share with you our four Caregivers of the Month! Each one brings something special to the patients and families they support, and we’re incredibly grateful to have them on our team.

Central Florida

Nikia L.

We’re celebrating Nikia for the professionalism, reliability, and positivity she brings to everything she does!

Nikia is responsive, approachable, and always quick to communicate, treating patients, families, and team members with kindness and respect. She also stands out for her top-tier documentation — clear, thorough, timely, and organized, with an attention to detail that reflects the quality of care she provides.

.Thank you, Nikia, for being someone our team and families can count on!

West Florida

Rose J.

Rose is on a roll! Since joining our Westside team, she has continued to show just how willing she is to step up and help wherever she’s needed.

Rose is someone the team knows they can reach out to with questions or concerns, and she has gone above and beyond to help other nurses through the onboarding process. She’s already assisted with more than four skills competencies, with even more on the way!

Her willingness to jump in, share her knowledge, and help others succeed — all while bringing a positive attitude — has made such an impact.

We’re lucky to have you on the Westside team!

South Florida

Lisa V.

We’re giving a well-deserved shoutout to Lisa for something that makes a huge difference behind the scenes — amazing documentation!

Lisa is incredibly thorough, consistently submits her notes on time, and makes sure her documentation paints a clear clinical picture of the care she provides. Her attention to detail and consistency truly stand out.

As her nomination put it, “Her notes are TOP NOTCH!!”

Thank you, Lisa, for taking pride in every part of the care you provide and for setting such a great example!

North Florida

Bany R.

We’re excited to recognize Bany for the incredible care, professionalism, and heart she brings to her patients and families. One family shared that Bany has become like family to them, praising not only the care she provides, but also her knowledge, professionalism, and continued growth as a nurse.

They shared how proud they are to have her as part of their care team and how excited they are to see where her nursing journey takes her next.

“Whoever is blessed to be her patient in the future will always be in good hands.”

Bany, thank you for making such a meaningful impact and for being the kind of caregiver families can truly lean on.

MATCHMAKING MOMENT

Introducing Rosheka!

If you’re looking for a nurse who is eager to learn, grow, and make a difference, Rosheka may be a great match. Rosheka is an LPN and a 2025 graduate of Gwinnett Institute. While she has been a nurse for about a year, she brings more than 10 years of experience in the medical field, including working with geriatric patients and individuals with disabilities.

For Rosheka, nursing is all about giving back. Her favorite part is knowing that the care and support she provides can make a difference in someone’s life each day. She’s always looking for opportunities to build her skills and knowledge and plans to continue her education to become an RN.

When she’s not caring for others, Rosheka enjoys shopping, traveling, and crossword puzzles. She was born in Jamaica, loves matcha tea, and describes herself as someone who enjoys learning something new and then mastering it.

Rosheka is excited to continue growing as a nurse while building a connection with a new patient and family. If you’re interested in working with Rosheka, please call our main line and we will set up a meet and greet!
